Occupation: Doctor in private practice since 1980.
I grew up in a time when there were no soccer moms. A bicycle was my means of transportation and a
ticket to independence. It took me to school, the ballfield, and across town on my paper route. Since that
time, cycling has taken me over 50,000-miles throughout North America and nearly 5000-laps around the
Little 500 track at Indiana University. I love what cycling can do for a person.
Coaching Alpha Tau Omega in 19 Little 500 races since 1980 has been a true joy. I get to connect with
some powerful and courageous young people who are doing something really different. The Little 500 is
unique and one-of-a-kind. Both of my daughters are Little 5 veterans. And winning that event is not easy.
My men & women teams have been first across the finish line four times since 1990, but I've also been on
the other side of the yellow flag many times. Participating in the Little 500 can be humbling and exalting
and an experience of a lifetime.
I know what it takes to win. Alumni support is one of them. Cycling can be expensive and usually isn't a part
of a college student's budget. Imagine a son or daughter asking their parents for costly cycling equipment
while they are forking out a 6-figure college education. That doesn't go over very easy. These guys need
your financial help to maintain ATO's success in the Little 500. Send them a donation and I'll make sure it
will be put to best use.
Thanks for your help and hope to see you at the 2009 Little 500.

I have been involved with the ATO bike team since my senior year of high school in 2000. I got my start in
cycling by riding on one of Norm’s deCycles trips in 1996 and soon started racing. In 2000 Norm asked me
if I would be interested in joining the team on their winter training trip to Arizona. I jumped at the
opportunity and have been involved with the team ever since.
During college I raced competitively at a national level and spent the 2004 season racing for a small
professional team sponsored by Subway. That year I had a chance to race against some of the best cyclists
in the country and world, including a few stage winners of the Tour de France. Due to my racing
experience I was unable to ride in the Little 500, but I still wanted to be involved with the team and help the
house return to its former Little 500 glory. My main role with the team has been to develop training
programs. I have built upon my personal racing experience and insights from years of helping the team to
help build a program that I believe can best prepare them for victory on race day.
Since graduating from IU I worked for two years as an accountant for a marketing firm and am currently
pursuing my MBA at IU. I will be graduating in May 2009 and am currently in the job hunt. I don’t race
anymore but still get out on the occasional bike ride with the team and have also completed a few
marathons.

While living in the fraternity, I have been House Manager, Vice President, and Little 500 rider. Outside of
the fraternity, I have been a Director for the Circle of Life, Mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters, and
volunteer at the United Way. I was the recipient of the Cecil E. Harlos scholarship my sophomore year. My
main focus this year is to build the strongest Little 500 team possible in order to ensure our success this
year.

I've represented our team as a Riders Council representative for the past 2 years and am very accustom to
the track. I’m looking forward to a great final season.

I was very unfortunate to injure myself right before last year's race, but I’ve been training all summer and
am ready for this year. I enjoy riding, but most of all; I enjoy having the opportunity to represent my
fraternity in the greatest college event of the year, the Little 500.

Having started my Little 500 career with the Cutters cycling, I rushed ATO my sophomore year to
become part of the tradition. I'm active with the IU Cycling Club and the local summer racing team,
Team Morris Trucking. Having a different perspective on the race through former-cutter eyes, I bring
much needed diversity of thought into our training program.

I've been riding for just over a year now, but I continue to improve and get stronger everyday. Being part
of the cycling team has taught me the importance of success through hard work and dedication. I am
grateful to be a part of such a storied cycling program and I look forward to continues success with the
team.

Having come from an athletic background in high school, I came to Indiana looking to compete in some
kind of competitive sport. When I discovered cycling I fell in love with it, and was invited to ride for Team
Major Taylor. However, after having interest in greek life I decided to pledge ATO and continue
competitive cycling with them.
