The ATO team is very proud of their accomplishments this Winter Break and are excited to share their story.
The narration is done again, wonderfully, by our coach Norm Houze.
The purpose of this trip was to gain the endurance and toughness necessary to be successful in Little 500
competition. Spending a week on the road can improve the overall competitive fitness and team concept.
The road is a strict disciplinarian. Our goal was to cover as much distance as possible in limited daylight
hours, colder temps, and a harsh environment. This route from the Pacific Coast to Las Vegas was
extremely challenging with endless climbs and desolate desert conditions.
Now the team has a training foundation and with a few days off, they will hit the rollers, the gym, and get
some outside rides whenever possible. It is important for them to realize that their primary training is on the
bike outside. This team is very capable of winning the race. Rob and Steve are the best one-two punch for
ATO since the powerful combination of Hans Arnesen and Tom Meersman in 2004. That team was the first
to cross the finish line that year. We're exited to see what shape this team is in during the Spring.
